When Should I Exercise?
Kaitlyn Giddons
Some research has suggested that people who exercise in
the morning give their metabolism an added boost that increases calorie-burning
throughout the day. However, other research has found that your metabolism is
raised for several hours after working out, no matter when you exercise.
Anecdotal evidence has for years shown that, when people exercise later in the
evening, the boost in metabolism can interfere with sleep.
There is nothing to suggest that any one time is
significantly better than any other for exercise. Some people prefer to work out
in the morning, finding that exercise gives them an energy boost. Other people
feel exhausted if they try to exercise in the morning. The time of day that you
choose to exercise isn’t nearly as important as making sure you work out at
least three times a week: timing is a matter of personal preference. Whenever
you exercise, your metabolism will be positively affected.
